"Fade" Named Grand Prize Winner in John Lennon Songwriting Contest; Global Voting for "Song of the Year" Begins April 1
Columbia, MO— 3/26/26 — Andrew and Kristen Camp of the indie folk duo, The January Lanterns, and co-writer Patricia Bahia have been named Grand Prize Winners in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC) for their single, "Fade." Selected from over 16,000 entries worldwide, "Fade" secured its victory in the Folk category and has now advanced to the Top 24 finalists competing for the title of "Song of the Year."
The "Song of the Year" honor, the contest's highest distinction, includes a $20,000 top prize and significant industry exposure. The winner will be determined by a combination of elite industry judging and a month-long Public Online Voting period.
Starting April 1st and running through April 30th, fans and the public can vote daily to help "Fade" reach the Top 12. To ensure a fair process, the JLSC allows one vote per IP address every 24 hours.
"Haunt me, bleed into my edges till you’re blooming... I’ll never let the ink of you fade," the song’s lyrics suggest a deep, indelible connection—a theme that has clearly resonated with the JLSC panel.
"This recognition is an incredible honor," says Andrew. "Now, we’re looking to rally our community to help us take this song all the way to the final stage. Every single vote over the next 30 days helps galvanize this song's meaning for us and for others.”
How to Vote: Supporters can visit www.jlsc.com/vote daily throughout April. Voters are encouraged to use their cellular data rather than shared Wi-Fi to ensure each individual vote is counted.
About the John Lennon Songwriting Contest: The JLSC is an international songwriting competition begun in 1997 to give songwriters the opportunity to be heard in a professional environment. It is made possible through the generosity of Yoko Ono Lennon.
