The January Lanterns release new single, “Time Is Softer”, Embracing their past and looking to the future

The January Lanterns, an emotive and wistful Indie-Folk-Pop Midwest band, released a brand new single called, “Time Is Softer”. The married duo, Andrew and Kristen Camp, released their single on Friday, September 15th on all streaming platforms. The couple has no doubt that this fresh release will get their fans ready and excited about the band’s upcoming sophomore album.
Andrew and Kristen know change. The high school sweethearts got married young, had four kids, and obtained a heavy load of unanswered questions by the time they were in their late twenties. Despite the constant need to adapt, the warmth of their music is where the The January Lanterns always grow stronger.
“Time is Softer” is a meditation on the pains of their past and the wounds of an anxious outlook; struggling to realize what’s important within their thin slice of time. The duo starts the song with quiet, whispering harmonies then they move to sing in sole unison during the chorus. As the lyrics unfold in “Time Is Softer”, you can hear how the unceasing ups and downs of time has impacted them.
“Growing older feels harder than I ever thought it’d be
Used to climb trees in the moonlight
Let our worries go free
All of my thoughts couldn’t get stuck in lost and found
Growing older has been tough
Time is softer with you”
